Proof – evidence

Everybody wants proof and the only thing that counts is science-based proof

So on this page, I will collect proof that Parkinson’s disease is not only physical disease but also a mental disease.

The worldwide belief that it is a physical disease were you get worse and worse must be stopped because most people believe that lose their hope and do nothing to help themselves.

So here is the first proof:

Effects of Mindfulness Yoga vs Stretching and Resistance Training Exercises on Anxiety and Depression for People With Parkinson Disease: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

The worldwide belief that it is a physical disease were you get worse and worse must be stopped because most people believe that lose their hope and do nothing to help themselves.
So here is the first proof: They have made an experiment to compare ordinary Parkinson exercises and yoga for 20 weeks.

  • Both groups improved in getting smaller symptoms
  • And people that took yoga experienced got less anxiety.
With my way of thinking it is like this:
“Normal” exercise let you “burn off” the excess adrenaline you have in your body. But next day you again start to produce adrenaline again as you have not done anything to get better mental health.
In yoga, you not only get some exercise and not to forget body stretches that are rather unique. But the exercises are done in a calming speed – very slow. So the body “understand” that there is peace around you and start to relax.
My guess is that the improvement would continue after for the people that start doing yoga themselves.

My summary:
In the mindfulness yoga group, patients demonstrated significantly better improvement in anxiety and depressive symptoms. There was no significant improvement noted in anxiety and depressive symptoms in the SRTE group (traditional stretching and resistance training exercises ). The mindfulness yoga group showed significant improvement in MDS-UPDRS motor scores, spiritual well-being, and perceived equanimity. They also saw significant improvements in disease-specific HRQOL (Health-Related Quality of Life)

And actually: reducing stress going directly after stress and traumas in your life is the shortcut. So for the ones that dislike yoga and hard exercise, I have still room for more clients in my online Coach practice.
